Sustainability at CoM

Based in Chiayi, the CCU College of Management focuses on issues such as demographic change, industrial transformation, and regional development, applying its management expertise to local needs through teaching, research, and community engagement. Working with local industries, small and medium-sized enterprises, and Indigenous communities, the College links talent development and hands-on learning to industry and community development, steadily building experience and results in sustainability practice.

Two Strategic Directions

Digital innovation and sustainability are the two directions that guide the College's overall development. In sustainability practice, digital tools can help address needs in industrial transformation, market participation, and healthcare. Through interdisciplinary courses and collaborative projects, the College explores how technology can support sustainability goals and tracks the actual outcomes over time.

Digital Applications and Cross-Disciplinary Learning

Through interdisciplinary courses and hands-on projects, the College develops students' ability to use financial technology, artificial intelligence, and data analytics to understand and solve real-world problems. For example, the Master Program in Financial Technology brings together faculty from all five of the College's departments and draws on FinTechSpace and the campus digital sandbox to support students in developing application concepts. The Pineapple Coin–Community Mutual Aid project started from community needs to explore possible uses of financial technology, and its results were presented at FinTech Taipei 2024.

Sustainability Practice and Local Impact

Through the Ministry of Education's University Social Responsibility (USR) Program, entrepreneurship incubation, and industry–academia collaboration, the College works with local partners to respond to industry and community needs. For example, faculty and students work with Tsou producers in Alishan, combining cultural understanding, brand design, and digital communication to improve product presentation and expand market access. Startup Land, a university-wide entrepreneurship platform operated by the College, provides courses, mentoring, and incubation resources to help student teams develop venture ideas, some of which have gone on to form companies.
